PURPOSE: To obtain a high quality polyester fiber capable of reducing the damage to a fiber-traveling and contacting member, especially a fiber-contacting metal member, in spite of the addition of titanium dioxide, and excellent in the property for passing through processes such as a spinning process, a false- twisting process and a weaving process. ;CONSTITUTION: This polyester fiber contains a glycol derivative of the following formula and titanium dioxide fine particles in a dispersed state therein and in amounts simultaneously satisfying three conditions: 0.65≤(A+B)≤10, 0.5≤B≤5, and 0.25≤A≤10B, when A and B are the amounts (wt.%) of the glycol derivative and the titanium dioxide fine particles, respectively, on the basis of the weight of the polyester fiber X-Y-Z-Y'-X' (Z is the residue of a dihydric hyroxyl group-containing compound; Y and Y' are polyoxyalkylene glycol residues comprising mutually same or different oxyalkylene groups; and X and X' are mutually same or different monovalent aliphatic or aromatic alkyl groups).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
