PURPOSE:To improve the extent of operating efficiency in a compressor by adopting a proper measure such as partitioning off each pressure-receiving surface at both high and low pressure sides on the back of a second scroll or the like, and performing its operation without making thrust load become more than the specified one at all the operation range. CONSTITUTION:A compressive element 5 equipped with both first and second scrolls 3, 4 and a motor 7 are installed in a closed casing 1, and in addition, a discharge pipe 9 is opened in this casing 1. In the above compressor, each of pressure-receiving surfaces 12, 15 at both high and low pressure sides is partitioned off on the back of the second scroll 4. There are provided a first thrust receiving surface 16, which supports the second scroll 4 when pressing force by high pressure side pressure acting on the high pressure side pressure receiving surface 12 overcomes separative force by internal pressure in the compressive element 5, and a second thrust receiving surface 17 supporting the second scroll 4 when the said separative force overcomes the pressing force. Moreover, the high pressure side pressure receiving surface 12 is set down to a pressure receiving area serving as the pressing force based with a surface pressure acting on the first thrust receiving surface 16 at time of high differential pressure operation.
