PURPOSE: To produce a ball mill member for preparing high purity carbonaceous powder. ;CONSTITUTION: Phenol refined by vacuum distillation and formaldehyde are brought into an addition-condensation reaction to prepare a precondensation product of phenolic resin. This product is molded, cured by heating and worked into a prescribed shape. The resultant cured molded body is put in a high purity graphite crucible and carbonized by firing at ≥800°C in a heating furnace held in a high purity nonoxidizing atmosphere to produce the objective ball mill member made of glassy carbon having ≤10ppm total ash content.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
