HUMAN MACROPHAGE ACTIVATING FACTOR

PURPOSE: To obtain a factor capable of activating the phagocytosis of a human macrophage and potentiating the human initial immunity. ;CONSTITUTION: This factor is a glycoprotein having the following properties: (a) activating the phagocytosis of a human macrophage; (b) eluted with an elution buffer at 400-900mM NaCl salt concentration in a DEAE ion exchange chromatography and having (c) about 30kDa molecular weight measured by a gel filtration method, (d) about 13% saccharide content measured by a phenol sulfuric acid method, (e) no sialic acid and (g) an ability to bind to concanavalin A (ConA).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
