PURPOSE: To provide a method for holding the freshness of the cut flower, capable of being employed as a permanent wilt-preventing measure, and further to provide a cut flower using the method. ;CONSTITUTION: The method for holding the freshness of the cut flower comprises wholly or partially coating the cut flower with a coating to form a coating layer on the whole or partial surface of the cut flower. The working mode of the method includes the method wherein the coating comprises a water- soluble polymer, a natural polymeric compound, the method wherein the coating film is a two-layered coating film comprising the inner layer of a natural polymeric compound and the outer layer of a synthetic polymeric compound, the method wherein an agent for holding the freshness of the cut flower is added to the coating, the method wherein the agent for holding the freshness of the cut flower is an agent containing silver thiosulfate as a main ingredient, and the method wherein the agent for holding the freshness of the cut flower is an agent containing an antibiotic.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
