An improved device is described for interfacing a tool of the mechanical hand or similar type, for application to an arm of a machine, in particular a robot or manipulator, of the type having two flanged parts 1, 10 that can be coupled together, one of which is designed to be attached to the tool 60, 70, 80 and the other to the arm of the machine 50, in which the first of the said flanged parts 10 has a first cavity 13, to house a coupling part 3 forming part of the second 1 of the said flanged parts and a second cavity 14, substantially perpendicular to the said first cavity 13, to house a locking pin 20. The said coupling part 3 is able to work with the said locking pin 20, for the coupling of the said two flanged parts 1, 10. The locking between the two flanged parts 1, 10 is achieved by rotating the said locking pin 20. The main characteristic of the device described is that the said second cavity 14 for housing the said locking pin 20 is positioned so that the resultant of the components of the forces exerted on the said locking pin 20 along the axis of the arm F is essentially on the said axis F.
