An apparatus for communication in writing, comprising a touch panel controller (18) which reads the XY-axis of a touch panel (14) superposed on an LCD 12 at 15 msec, converts the dot position of a light pen (11) on the XY-axis of this time into 20 bits (10 bits on X-axis and 10 bits in Y-axis) based upon the resolution of the touch panel (14) (1024 x 1024); an LCD controller (16) for turning on the dot of the LCD (12) corresponding to the dot position every time when the dot position on the XY-axis of LCD (12) is input; a communication unit (22) which, in response to the output from the touch panel controller (18), compares the current dot position with the previous one, outputs (20) bits composing the first bit sequence starting with the current dot position as a start point of drawing if the two dots are not adjacent, and converts the deviation per a dot at two dot positions into a second sequence of not more than (4) bits if they are adjacent; and a communication control unit (25) for communicating the date of the first bit sequence or the second bit sequence according to a predetermined communication protocol in order to transmit in real time the video data through an input pen to the other party.
