In a cyclic regeneration process, suppressors (6,6a,6b) located in a pipe (9) between the outlet from a sepn. column (2) and the inlet to an analyser (4) in an ion chromatograph are cyclically regenerated by being physically moved into gaps (34,35) in additional lines (10,10a) where they form bridges across the gaps and treatment fluids (7,7a) are passed through them before they are returned to the analysis line. Also claimed is an ion chromatography appts. having two or more additional lines with gaps into which suppressors can be moved so that the suppressors bridge the gaps and treatment fluids can be passed through them.
