FIELD: biochemistry. SUBSTANCE: acetylcholinesterase (ACE) is prepared from homogenate of peach aphid, Myzus persicae sulz.. Peach aphid is a broad polyphage and can be cultured on the different plants at laboratory conditions. Biomass aphid is lyophilized to increase the ACE concentration in the parental material. Method of preparing aphid membrane-bound ACE involves the enzyme extraction using detergent Tween-20 and partial purification of ACE by gel-filtration on column with sorbent TSK-GEL TOYOPEARL HW-60. Enzyme ACE can be used for assay of anti-ACE properties in organophosphate and carbamate compounds with regard to the search and synthesis of insecticides and aphacides.
