A combat vehicle with an apex-mounted weapon system, in the case of which combat vehicle the cradle part (4) of the heavy main armament (3) is supported on the top of the vehicle trough (1) such that it can pivot through a predetermined angle in the elevation and azimuth aiming regions. A housing (5) which can be pivoted together with the cradle part, for accommodating at least one person of the crew, is firmly arranged at the rear end of the cradle part (4) in order to hold a predetermined ammunition supply. On its top in the rear region underneath the housing (5), the vehicle trough (1) has an upwardly open depression, of essentially U-shaped cross-section, into which the lower part of the housing (5) projects. The width and depth of the depression (8) are matched to the maximum values of the pivoting angle of the weapon (3) in the elevation and azimuth aiming regions. The control room (12) is arranged in the rear of the housing (5) and the viewing means (14, 15, 15a), which permit an all-round view, are arranged on the roof panel (5c) of the housing (5) such that their field of view is located above the plane of the main armament (3).
