A process for the hydrothermal stabilisation of wheatgerm, wheat bran or rye bran comprises the following steps: (A) the fresh raw material is treated with steam over a period of 5-30 mins. in a screw conveyor supplied with satd. steam at 2-3 bar vapour pressure in the lower part of the steamer device, so as to give a prod. temp. of 60-110 deg C; (B) the steam treated prod. is dried in a fluid whirlpool bed at 120-150 deg C; and (C) the cooled prod. is screened using a screening device. The hydrothermally stabilised prods. prepd. by this method are also claimed.
