Multicore flexible electrical power cable with built=in optical fibre conductors

A multicore flexible electrical power cable has multicore optical fibre conductors integrated into it. The cable has three identical power carrying cores (1) that each are produced as flexible twisted strand units. Associated with these are a pair of earth protection wires (2). The optical fibre conductors (7) are loosely bundled into a sleeve of polyester, PBT, material (8) that is 3mm in diameter and is covered by a weave of thermally insulating aramide fibres (9). This is then protected by a mesh of zinc coated steel material (10) and the cross-section embedded in insulation (5) with an outer sleeve (6).
