A high-performance warehouse comprises a plurality of horizontal storage levels (3) which are arranged one above the other and each of which is composed of channels (8', 8'') which are arranged parallel adjacent to one another and in which the individual stored piece goods (2) can be stored in rows one behind the other. Every channel (8) adjoins a lane which runs parallel to the latter and in which there is arranged a transport device (12) which can be moved along the said lane. By means of this transport device (12), the stored piece goods (2) can be removed from and brought into the channels (8). The stored piece goods (2) can be brought onto a transport means (26) which is arranged in every storage level (3), runs transversely with respect to the channels (8) and can take the stored piece goods (2) into a lift (11).
