The regulator, designed to ensure a good level of carburation at all operating rates, has injectors (4) to modulate the gas pressure or the gas flow rate. In the pressure modulation version the injector has a needle (10) which is actuated by a membrane (8) which reacts to the pressure and is returned to its initial position by a spring. The needle (10) has a conical tip with its length determined by the movement of the membrane and the height of the injector nozzle. Its angle of taper is determined by the diameter of the needle, providing a circular aperture between the needle and the body of the jet which ensures a minimal gas flow rate at minimal pressure. The setting of the needle is controlled by a screw (14) acting against the free end of the spring.
