The corset consists of a pelvic belt (1) which rests on the hips and has a raised rear section forming a back support and two front ends with a gap between them covered by an abdominal support. It also has two U-shaped side shells (3,4) which fit against the sides of the patient's body on either side of the iliac crest, connected at the front to the abdominal support and at the rear to the back support.The two side shells are pivoted to the pelvic belt and the abdominal support, and the shells' upper ends are connected, e.g., by pivots, to upper dorso-lateral panels (5,6) in an inverted L-shape. The two panels are connected at the top by an inverted L- or T-shaped bar (10).
