The device for holding and delivering a regular and controlled supply of liquid (8) consists of a trough (5), which is filled upto a maximum required level (6), from a rigid reservoir (4), which is closed and sealed at its upper part (32), and which is filled with the liquid upto a level (7), which is above the level (6) in the trough. Three connecting channels are provided. The first (1) allows flow between the opening (12), in the base of the reservoir (4), to an opening (11), within the trough. The second channel (2) allows the reservoir to be filled externally. The third channel (3) provides a connection between the air space above the liquid in the reservoir, through opening (30) to the trough via opening (31) in the trough to allow air to bubble out.
