An acoustic sensor (3) of the stethoscope capsule type is fixed to the bottom of the case (1) and enclosed by an elastomeric skirt (6) which is suitable to make good acoustic contact with various parts of the body. Above the sensor (3) a compartment (7) houses batteries (8) and electronic circuits (9) which filter and amplify the signals from the sensor (3). Two identical loudspeakers (10) (11) are located in the top of the housing (1) mounted back to back with elastomeric interposition to eliminate feed back to the sensor (3).
