PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a two-dimensional fluorescence lifetime within a short time and accurately under the application of a simple configuration. ;SOLUTION: Fluorescence B generated as a result of the irradiation of a pulse excitation beam A emitted from a pulse light source 10 to a measurement object 30 is branched into fluorescence B1 and B2 through a beam splitter 50. A delay optical system 60 generates the prescribed difference of optical path length between the fluorescence B1 and B2 and, then, the optical images thereof are photographed with a photographing part 70 at the preset time specified via a photographing timing signal outputted from a photographing timing generation part 80. In this case, the photographed optical image of each of the fluorescence B1 and B2 corresponds to a fluorescence image generated on the measurement object 30 at times different from each other. Thus, an arithmetic operation part 90 computes a two-dimensional fluorescence lifetime on the basis of the intensity ratio of the photographed optical images of the fluorescence B1 and B2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
