PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a degradation inhibitor for concrete or mortal capable of effectively preventing the degradation of concrete or mortal over a long period by using a specific amorphous alloy. ;SOLUTION: The degradation inhibitor for concrete or mortal contains the amorphous alloy having antibacterial action or sterilizing action against a sulfur oxidizing bacteria. As the amorphous alloy, a nickel alloy is exemplified. The surface of an inorganic or organic particle is preferably dry-coated with the amorphous alloy. The average particle diameter of the inorganic or organic particle is preferably 0.001-1.0mm. As the organic particle, an organic pigment or a resin particle is used and as the inorganic particle, an inorg. pigment inorg. filler, an aggregate, cement or sand is used. The degradation inhibitor is used by incorporating it in concrete or mortal and is used as a coating material for concrete or mortal by dispersing it in a resin solution.
