PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more effectively grasp a change in the ground by forming a plurality of strong elastic metal wires into a wire bundle and fixing both ends thereof to pedestals. ;SOLUTION: Pedestals 1A, 1B made of an iron plate are provided up and down and both ends of a wire bundle 2 consisting of, for examples, five strong elastic metal wires (piano wires) 2a are fixed to the pedestals to form a wire bundle waveguide rod which is, in turn, embedded in a soil structure, a slope or the ground in the periphery thereof. The sound generated by the friction and collision of mutual soil particles in the ground or soil particles and the waveguide rod propagates along the longitudinal direction of the surfaces or interiors of the metal wires 2a of the wire bundle 2. Further, the metal wires 2a are mutually bent by the change of the soil pressure accompanied by the deformation of the ground to generate friction and the sound generated as the result propagates along the longitudinal direction of the surfaces or interiors of the metal wires 2a. Both sounds are simultaneously measured by the sound detection sensor provided in the vicinity of the end parts of the metal wires 2a and the change in the ground is grasped from the measured values.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
