PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve follow-up ability with a film layer of a magnetic recording/reproducing head and to precisely record/reproduce information on plural tracks without adversely affecting photograph image quality. ;SOLUTION: A film strip 10 is formed to a concavely curved shape traversing the film 10 on an MOF(magnetic on film) layer 28 when it is restricted by a film transfer path, and the curve 80 is approximated by a six-dimensional polynominal having only even member terms. The base line 80 vapor depositing a thin film head layer of respective heads arranged on a linear substrate 50 is approximated by the six-dimensional polynominal having even member terms. After a thin film layer is vapor deposited, linear head arrangement 74 is formed to the curved shape traversing the film 10, and a ground head surface is arranged on the base line. A piece of electric grind guide is vapor deposited on the substrate related to toe linear arrangement of magnetic head elements and the base line, and a head element layer height is controlled in head manufacture processing. This control is performed by measuring the electric resistance of the electic grind guide when the convex curve of the head surface is formed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
