PURPOSE: To provide the method for prolonging the service life of a product or a roll and remarkably improving the working efficiency. ;CONSTITUTION: This cover is the method for improving the roughening of the surface of a tungstren-contg. metallic product in which a W-contg. metallic product constituted of a sintered hard alloy, high speed steel or the like is treated by an alkali aq. soln. of pH 8 contg. Ca ions to form the film of calcium tungstate. At the time of using the aq. soln. as a cooling water for hot rolling by a W-contg. roll, the roughening of using a the surface of the roll can be prevented.
