Cladding tube, spacer, and channel box for highly corrosion resistant nuclear fuel, fuel assembly thereof, and method of manufacturing the same
PURPOSE:To suppress nodular corrosion and improve corrosion resistance and hydrogen absorbing characteristic in a sheathed tube for nuclear fuel, a spacer, a channel box and a fuel assembly. CONSTITUTION:At least one of a sheathed tube for nuclear fuel, a spacer, a channel box and a fuel assembly for a nuclear reactor is formed of a zirconium base alloy containing tin 1-2%, iron 0.20-0.35% and nickel 0.03-0.16% in weight and the rest substantially formed of zirconium, at an iron/nickel ratio 1.4-10. At the time of manufacturing the fuel assembly for the nuclear reactor, prior to the first cold plastic processing after the final hot plastic processing, the zirconium base alloy is subjected to the treatment of quenching after short-time heating-holding in a temperature area including beta-phase or beta-phase and beta-phase. Cold plastic processing and annealing treatment are then repeated alternately, and after forming the thin material of the zirconium base alloy, fabrication is applied to manufacture the fuel assembly for the nuclear reactor.
