PURPOSE:To make a pad member sufficiently thicker by providing an opening at the upper part of a door inner panel, and penetrating the pad member to the opening to make it approach an inner reinforcement. CONSTITUTION:In a door inner panel 1, two openings 6 are provided at the rear part of its waist, namely, the positions where an occupant may touch at the time of lateral collision, and a flange part 12 is formed to ensure the rigidity of a panel 1 around the respective openings 6. In the openings 6, the pad material 5 installed on a door trim 4 is penetrated to make it approach an inner reinforcement 3. Therefore, the pad member 5 can be thickened, and there is no need of increasing the thickness of a door 10 with the thickness of the pad member 5. The dimension A' of a ledge part 13 formed at the waist part of a door inner panel 1 can be increased as much as possible regardless of the thickness of the pad member 5, which increases the rigidity of a door waist part.
