PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the cut number of a web cut and roll-up machine easily with excellent operability during low speed operation without interrupting the roll-up operation. ;SOLUTION: In a web cut and roll-up machine which cuts a wide web S into multiple narrow webs, separates them from each other, and takes them up individually by roll-up machines A and B, a course change means 15 is provided, and the course of the narrow web S-A of which cut number is not yet changed and which is being taken up by one roll-up machine A is changed so that it bypasses near the other roll-up machine B. Then the position of the cutting blade of a cutting device 2 is moved to the position beyond the side end of the web in the lateral direction, and the wide web is moved toward one roll-up machine. A after that, the cutting blade is positioned at the position corresponding to the new cut number, the web is cut into the changed cut number, and the required narrow web S-B is rolled up on the core of the other roll-up machine B. On the other hand, the course change means 15 is returned to the original position, and the remaining narrow web S-A is taken up by one roll-up machine A.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
