The invention relates to an improved process for the elimination of hydrogen sulphide from fluid flows as well as to a composition suitable for the utilization of such processes. The fluidizable sorbent composition contains zinc oxide, alumina and silica and acts by direct contact to the hydrogen sulphide-polluted fluid flow. The invention also relates to a method for the preparation of the sorbent composition.
