An overload proctection device of the type where components are fixed mutually by means of a safety member adapted to be cut or broken when the components are subjected to an overload, wherein the safety member is a thread spiral (2) adapted to be cut loose from a rod (1) or a sleeve (4) when the thread spiral (2) is subjected to an overload. In order to avoid an oblique position, a thread spiral (2) having two or more courses is used. By varying the material thickness and pitch of the thread spiral (2), a desired force profile can be predetermined.
