A hazardous waste sterilisation and/or disinfection method and a device therefor are disclosed. The method includes treating the waste with a high frequency electromagnetic field in a sealed chamber at least partially consisting of the electromagnetic field generating assembly. Said method and said device are particularly suitable for processing hospital waste.
