The sliding door has a leaf suspended via a guide bar from a top profiled guide member (4), along which it can be moved. At the bottom it travels in a profiled threshold (5) or frame member. It can be uncoupled from the latter so as to allow hinging on an axis parallel to the guide member and away from the threshold. A guide (24) for the leaf bottom is integral with the threshold or fixed immovably to it. At the bottom of the leaf is a guide rib (22) with a portion (23) engaging with the threshold guide. This can be freed from the latter so as to allow the hinging movement. ADVANTAGE - Dirt does not accumulate in threshold guide.
