The design has the object of reducing the intervention times of emergency vehicles. Description of operation: when the emergency vehicle approaches an intersection controlled by traffic lights, the lights change to a flashing red, thus blocking the whole intersection, and then return to normal when the emergency vehicle has passed through. In the case of an intersection where one or more streets is a one-way or narrow street, the emergency vehicle entering from one of these streets will have encountered a flashing green light, while all the other lights at the intersection will show the flashing red stop signal, and then return to normal immediately after the emergency vehicle has passed. The flashing red light is required to indicate to the emergency vehicle that the system is in operation (in fact it is activated only after the situation has been monitored electronically) and to indicate to motorists that an emergency vehicle is in transit.
