The use of a magnetic levitometer to select particles having superconductivity in a finely ground perovskite bimetal compound having the general formula (N)y(T)x(O)2, where (N) is a normal metal, (T) is a transition metal, (O) is oxygen, with x = y (1 +/- 0.1) and z/x 3 is provided. The particles having the desired properties have a particular crystalline structure and are present in a small quantity in the mass of dust of the compound which was hitherto regarded as being non-superconducting but complies with the general chemical formula above.
