In order to repair worn stairs, an essentially C-shaped profile (14) is pushed over the front side (3) of the stair (1) and encloses said front side (3). On the stair (1) there is positioned a tread panel (4) which projects beyond the front side (3) and has a groove (10) in the bottom of the projecting part. A facing strip (2) comes to bear against the projecting part of the underside (8), a web (7) on the top side (6) of the facing strip (2) coming into engagement with the groove (10). IMAGE
