METHOD AND APPLICATOR FOR APPLYING CLOSURES TO ENVELOPES

A closure applicator device (1), for applying closures (5) to envelopes (6) and a method for the same. Each closure (5) comprising a first strip (12') having a series of sockets (14) distributed therealong and a second strip (12') having a series of locking pins (15) distributed therealong, the first and second strips (12', 12') hinged together along corresponding longitudinal edges (13) so that respective sockets (14) and locking pins (15) are aligned orthogonally across a hinge axis (16). The closure applicator device (1) comprises a retainer adapted to immobilize the first strip (12') of a first of the closures (5), a closure feed (60), for feeding the closure (5) to the retainer, a support (32), for supporting one of the envelopes (6) and a deflector (27) for bending the second strip (12') of the closure (5), about the hinge axis (16), towards the support (32).
