Hook and loop fastener for disposable nappies

A disposable nappy 2 has a hook or loop fastener comprising panels 12 of loop material on the front section 10 of the nappy, and fasteners 16a, 16b having panels 26 of hook material on the rear section 20. To hold the panels 26 in a closed position 16a when the nappy is packed, a portion 40 of loop material attached to the rear section of the nappy 2. The fastener portions may be cut from a continuous roll which is prefabricated by laying up the hook or loop portions 26, 40 on to a continuous strip of backing material 22.
