Disclosed are a photodetector integrated semiconductor laser device for a monitor and an optical pick-up device employing the same as a light source.;The disclosed semiconductor laser contact is provided on a semiconductor substrate, a first reflector layer, an active layer and a second reflector layer sequentially stacked on the semiconductor substrate, a first electrode layer formed on the bottom of the substrate, and an upper surface of the second reflector layer. A low horizontal resistance layer having a low horizontal resistance is formed between the second reflector layer, the second electrode layer, and the intrinsic semiconductor layer. By employing the laser device as a light source, the structure can be simplified such that the light source and the error signal detection photodetector can be integrated on the same substrate.
