The table has a table top (7) which can be raised and inclined. It also has a base frame with at least two upright columns (2). The uprights are each formed from an outer tube (4) and an inner tube (5). The latter is arranged inside the former such that it can be moved telescopically by means of an electric motor drive. The height of the table is adjusted to different levels to a lower position for sitting at the table and an upper position for standing at the table. The height adjustment is carried out by means of a programmable control which stores input values. The control is provided with an integral memory function such that the height adjustment between the seated position and the standing position and vice versa is carried out automatically according to freely selectable time intervals which are input earlier.
