The porosity and permeability of a geological formation (2) are determined from the electrofiltering phenomenon, by exploiting the existence of non-linear electrofiltering phenomena. One or two generators (11) are used in order to propagate a pressure wave in the formation. The electrodes (14, 15) are applied against the wall of the formation and collect the electrical response of the formation. The detection of a resonance frequency or phase shift corresponding to an extremum of the electrical response of the formation, it is possible to calculate the porosity and permeability of the formation or to find their values on the basis of charts.
