The upper stiffener (I) of the metal reinforcement mat (3) is replaced by two vertically superimposed steel bars (5, 6). The lower reinforcements in the base (2) may also be replaced by steel bars (11, 12). They are also superimposed but at a slight angle. The use of the steel bars (5, 6) soldered to the upper edge of the mat and to the base of the mat allows reinforcement cages to be constructed on each of the upper or lower members. The steel bars (5, 6, 11, 12) are superimposed so that they touch or at a distance from each other. When they are further apart the distance (d) is reduced. The distance (d) is the length of the reinforcement (3) which is liable to be deformed or buckled when the reinforcement is stressed. The distance (d) separates the two closest upper and lower welds (4) or the distance between the upper weld (4) and a prefabricated heel (8) or a base section of formwork (10).
