PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the squeeze-out of an adhesive from an end part by providing a group of adhesives for the end part which are shorter than an adhesive for a spine part in a length adjusting area and are mutually separated, in intermittent pattern, in a bookbinding tape which can be cut in such a manner that its length is adjustable. ;SOLUTION: First a detection signal for a reference marking 32 for a cut position is obtained when a starched tape 302a is transported into an arrow direction of Fig. (a) from a tape head position Aa. For example, when the cut length of the tape 302a which is previously set to a sheet size is 298mm for the position of a cutter 308 which is set to 290mm at the time of obtaining the detection signal for the reference marking 321a for the cut position, in case that the A4 size sheet (297mm) is used, a signal for the transporting of the tape 302a by the length of extra 8mm from the point of time when the detection signal for the reference marking 321a for the cut position is connected to a transport motor. Thus it is possible to adjust the tape 302a to the desired cut length by controlling the number of signal pulses.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
