PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrically assisted steering system to effect decision of a motor current command by interpolating a current value based on both applying steering torque and a motor position and to perform correction such that a gain relation between a desired torque assist value and a motor torque output is brought into a linear state. ;SOLUTION: A system 10 contains a variable reluctance motor 26 and a controller. A controller decides a desired motor torque assist value in response to applying steering torque. A plurality of loop up tables are provided and a plurality of motor position values to motor current values are stored therein. The controller selects a specified loop up table from the look up tables and finally a motor control signal is generated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
