PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict an amount of generation of NOx and reduce evaporation of requisite substances by a method wherein when combustion residue is melted and processed with an oxygen burner, either pyrolysis residue or combustion residue is supplied into a high temperature flame at the oxygen burner with gaseous transportation and steam is also supplied. ;SOLUTION: Cooling water is flowed in an oxygen burner 31, fuel, combustion assisting gas and steam are supplied to a nozzle to be ignited and then a high temperature flame is formed at the extremity end of the oxygen burner 41. The high temperature flame is made stable through supplying of primary steam and secondary steam and the temperature is controlled in reference to a supplying amont. Either combustion fly ashes A stored in a hopper 53 or pyrolysis residue B stored in a hopper 54 is supplied to a residue supplying nozzle of the oxygen burner 31 through gas transportation using a carrier gas. Either the combustion fly ashes A or the pyrolysis residue B is supplied into the high temperature flame of the oxygen burner 31 so as to melt and process the combustible solid carbon. With such an arrangement as above, it is possible to reduce an amount of generation of NOx and restrict evaporation of requisite substances.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
