PURPOSE: To provide a rewinding machine capable of functioning with reliability and stability even at an extremely high web material feed speed in a paper working industry. ;CONSTITUTION: This rewinding machine for manufacturing the logs of a web material N without a central winding core is provided with a first winding roller 11 around which the web material is driven and a second winding roller 13 for forming a nip 14 through which the web material passes together with the first winding roller. A member 21 is movable relative to the first winding roller 11 and pinches and brakes the web material N between the member 21 and the first winding roller 11, and in order to cut the web and to start winding up a free end generated by the stoppage of the web material on itself by that, the web N is cyclically moved towards the surface of the first winding roller 11 between the member 21 and the roller 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
