PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make rich the color of a tatami (Japanese straw mat) border cloth and express fine design pattern by weaving warp and weft of synthetic fiber into a tatami border cloth, and expressing a design pattern on the surface by thermotransfer printing or screen printing. ;SOLUTION: Warp and weft made of synthetic fiber such as polyester fiber, polyethylene fiber, or polypropylene fiber are woven into small width cloth of plain weave or jacquard weave. This is used, as a mat border cloth, and thermotransfer printing or screen printing is executed on the surface. In the case of air drying or hot air drying in screen printing, all the fiber of polyester, polyethylene, polypropylene can be used. In the case of drying by heating or thermotransfer printing, polyester fiber of no thermal contraction is used. Hereby, in the mat border cloth, rich expression using free and fine color and design pattern becomes possible.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
