PURPOSE: To method for producing hydrogen gas comprising perfectly gasifying hydrogen contained in water for producing the hydrogen gas as a sample in a method for measuring the deuterium concentration in the water by reducing water and subsequently subjecting the generated hydrogen gas as the sample to a hydrogen isotope ratio analysis. ;CONSTITUTION: In a method for producing hydrogen gas by reacting water with metallic zinc particles 2 under vacuum at a high temperature in a reaction tube 1 to generate the hydrogen gas, the zinc particles 2 having a grain size of ≤5μm are prepared and used as the metallic zinc particles 2 used for the reaction.
