PURPOSE:To increase the magnetic flux density of a steel strip and to reduce its core loss in a high exciting area by subjecting a specified grain-oriented silicon steel strip to cold rolling, next subjecting this steel strip to primary recrystallization annealing, thereafter subjecting it to siliconizing treatment in a nonoxidizing atmosphere and then executing diffusing treatment in a nonoxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A grain-oriented silicon steel strip contg., by weight, =8% Si, 0.005 to 0.30% of one or two kinds of Sn and Sb and the balance substantial Fe, having the magnetic flux density of 0.9 B8/BS and having the degree of integration in the {110}001 direction is used as a starting material. This material is cold-rolled into the final sheet thickness of =150mum and is thereafter subjected to primary recrystallization annealing in which recrystallization from the grain boundaries is suppressed. Next, the material is subjected to siliconizing treatment in an N2, atmosphere including SiCl4 to uniformly incorporate silicon therein. Then, the material is subjected to Si diffusing treatment and is furthermore subjected to l80 deg. domain subdividing treatment. In this way, the extra thin silicon steel strip low in core loss in a high frequency area and permitting the design of high magnetic flux density can be obtd.
