PURPOSE:To improve the water saving efficiency of the automatic developing device by adding an oxidizing agent to the contaminated washing water to regenerate the water and using the washing water after removing the reaction products with the oxidizing agent therefrom by a filter. CONSTITUTION:The unused washing water is filled in a washing tank 1 and a water storage part 2 and the fixed photosensitive material is washed in the tank 1. The washing water is replenished from the tank 2 according to the processing amt. The overflow water of the tank 1 is sent into the tank 2 and is stored therein. The washing water in the tanks 1, 2 is contaminated by the carry-over liquid component from the photosensitive material and the eluted component from the photosensitive material and, therefore, the oxidizing agent (e.g.: hydrogen peroxide water) is supplied from an oxidizing agent supplying tank 5 to the tank 2 at proper times to regenerate the washing water. Further, the reaction products by the oxidizing agent are removed by the filter unit 4 consisting of the filters 4a, 4b of different pore sizes (e.g.: 7mu, 10mu mesh hole sizes) and thereafter, the washing water is used.
