A toy cog wheel railway have: at one track with smooth driving faces (41, 42; 53, 54) and a center cogging member (43, 55) with two opposed vertically extending racks (44, 45; 56, 57) thereon; a driving vehicle, running on the driving faces (41, 42; 53, 54), with at least two running axis (15) each of them carrying two running wheels (16) with driving engine (26) which is connected with a driving wheel (28) engaging only into one of the rack (44, 45; 56, 57). An axis (27) of the driving cog wheel (28) is vertical to running axis (15) with in pairs opposing each other tractive and pushing members (17, 18; 21, 22; 83) adjacent to driving cog wheel (28). The driving cog wheel (28) is positioned aside to a center of in pairs opposing tractive and pushing members including a coupling device (23, 24) for attaching another vehicles (1, 2, 3) wherein running wheels are rimless. The racks (44, 45; 56, 57) are upwardly open, tractive or pushing guiding members (17, 18; 21, 22; 22, 83) and always abut on one of two side areas of the cogging member (43; 55). The coupling device (23, 24) has a yoke that is attached to the chassis (4) of the driving engine and to the others being provided with corresponding tractive and pushing guiding members (17, 18; 21, 22; 22, 83) at a height of the cogging member (43; 55) adjacent to the said tractive or pushing guiding members (17, 18; 21, 22; 22, 83).
