This invention relates to a method for manufacturing a biodegradable thermoplastic material, wherein a solid keratin-containing natural product is plasticized, without separation of the keratin, in the presence of a medium forming a liquid phase under the selected processing conditions, at elevated temperature and pressure under the action of shearing forces, and the thereby obtained thermoplastic material is recovered.
