The invention concerns powdery, thermally unstable thermoplastic shaping compounds which are to be processed to form semi-finished products or shaped parts such that thermal decomposition processes are prevented and the semi-finished products and shaped parts display a high level of mechanical properties. To that end, the powdery thermoplastic shaping compound, which is precompressed under hydrostatic pressure, is exposed to a deviatoric stress below its melting temperature.
