A process and devices are disclosed for producing rolled wafer cones to be industrially filled with ice-cream and frozen for storage. The process is characterised by the following steps: (a) a dough with a high sugar content is poured on an endless, continuously moving heated baking surface, forming a strip of dough; (b) the strip of dough is baked into a thick, preferably one to several millimetres thick strip of wafer; (c) the baked strip of wafer is compressed in its plastically deformable state preferably up to maximum two thirds of its original thickness and at the same time or afterwards it is cut into individual pieces of wafer; (d) the individual pieces of wafer are rolled in the usual manner into cones.
